Polaris Project

http://www.polarisproject.org/ – Human Trafficking
Polaris Project: 90% of funding goes to programs – Polaris Project is a leading organization in the global fight against human trafficking and modern-day slavery.  Named after the North Star “Polaris” that guided slaves to freedom along the Underground Railroad, Polaris Project is transforming the way that individuals and communities respond to human trafficking, in the U.S. and globally. By successfully pushing for stronger federal and state laws, operating the National Human Trafficking Resource Center hotline (1-888-373-7888), conducting trainings, and providing vital services to victims of trafficking, Polaris Project creates long-term solutions that move our society closer to a world without slavery.

The Homestead Ministry

http://www.homesteadministry.org/ – Sex Trafficking, Local
The Homestead is a ministry extension of Westview Community Church. It shares Westview’s overall mission statement: “helping spiritually speaking people become more fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.” The vision of the Homestead is to be a safe, residential house that is used for ministry to each Homesteader, 18 years & older needing our residence, who have exited the sex industry and have been through a measure of their healing and recovery, to live free of charge; enroll in school or get a job; continue with support and recovery work; and begin to move from being under a 100% supervisory program to 100% independence back into the mainstream of life in a productive, life-giving, and contributing way.  HISTORY – After praying about ministering to women in the sex industry for almost two years, Westview’s Women’s Ministry was blessed with a financial gift on July 5, 2011, and a home to launch a ministry to women who have exited the sex industry on September 14, 2011. A local furniture store donated the large furniture items on October 21, 2011. After that point, we experienced an avalanche of generosity from individuals and businesses to get the Homestead up and running.
